On January 28, 2023, on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the establishment of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, the establishment ceremony of the National Orthopaedic Medicine Center was held in the Shuhuan Lecture Hall of Xinlongze Hospital District.

Academician Tian Wei reviewed the development history of the hospital and gave expectations and requirements to the National Orthopaedic Medicine Center, hoping that the hospital would strengthen scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation on the basis of doing a good job in clinical research, establish a "pool model" orthopaedic specialist training system, and take the orthopaedic Medicine Center as a development platform to achieve a leading radiation role and promote the high-quality development of Chinese orthopaedic medicine.

Tong Lizhi, deputy head of Changping District Government, first congratulated Jishuitan Hospital and thanked the hospital for its medical treatment and epidemic prevention and control work in Changping District. She hoped that Jishuitan Hospital, as one of the leading units in the medical industry in Changping District, would continue to serve the medical development of Changping District and contribute to the construction of the "Life Valley" innovation corridor in Changping District.

Cao Wei, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park Management Committee, said that the scientific and technological innovation of Beijing medical industry is closely connected with the industry, and the successful transformation of orthopedic surgery robot of Jishuitan Hospital is a model of Beijing medical industry. She hopes that Jishuitan Hospital will play a leading role in the development of international guidelines, medical standards, and innovative medical devices, and continue to make efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of all aspects of clinical research, promote the development of orthopedics nationwide, and provide better medical services for patients.

Zhong Dongbo, Secretary of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, put forward three requirements for the development of the National Orthopedic Medicine Center. First, on the basis of various achievements in medical teaching and research and hospital management, we must fulfill our mission and forge ahead to build the center well. Second, in accordance with the requirements of the National Health Commission, we should comprehensively benchmark the construction norms and standards of the national medical center, play a leading role in radiation, serve the construction of the "four centers", and help the development of the capital in the new era. Zhang Jun, deputy director of the Department of Social Development and Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that the establishment of the National Orthopedic Medicine Center is not only a major event in the medical community, but also a major event in the science and technology industry, and the Ministry of Science and Technology will, as always, give strong support. Jishuitan Hospital is one of the first pilot units of the reform of scientific and technological achievements empowered by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Li Dachuan, deputy director of the Medical Administration Department of the National Health and Health Commission, introduced the relevant policies and strategic significance of the establishment of the National Orthopaedic Medicine Center, hoping that Jishuitan Hospital will comprehensively improve the eight tasks of the center in a higher structure and position, constantly improve the international academic influence of Chinese orthopedics, and make Chinese orthopedics in the world's leading level.

Subsequently, Deputy Director Li Dachuan and President Jiang Xiyuan jointly unveiled the National Orthopedic Medicine Center. Chen Bei, Deputy Secretary-General of Beijing Municipal Government, expressed sincere congratulations to Jishuitan Hospital on behalf of the municipal government. The establishment of the National Orthopaedic Medicine Center is of great significance to Beijing Municipal Government and Jishuitan Hospital. Feng Chao, executive director of Guizhou Hospital, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, and Chen Shanlin, director of Hand Surgery, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, spoke as representatives of orthopedic doctors. President Feng Chao introduced the work of Guizhou Hospital. In the past six months, dozens of experts sent by Jishuitan Hospital have brought hundreds of new technologies, carried out a series of difficult operations, and actively participated in epidemic prevention and control and medical treatment in Guizhou. The number of emergency cases and operations in hospitals in Guizhou has increased significantly year-on-year, and initial results have been achieved in the target construction of improving regional medical service capacity and reducing patients' cross-provincial and cross-regional medical treatment.

As a hand surgery expert who has worked in Jishuitan Hospital for more than 30 years, Director Chen Shanlin shared his experience. He is grateful to his predecessors in orthopedic medicine, his peers in orthopedic medicine and outstanding young doctors, and he is proud to participate in the construction of the national orthopedic Medicine Center. At the end of the meeting, Jiang Xieyuan, director of the National Orthopaedic Medicine Center and president of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, made a work report. He briefly reviewed the 67 years of orthopedics development history of Jishuitan Hospital, the achievements of 8 orthopedics subspecialties in international original surgery, national and provincial awards, national key research and development program projects approved in the past ten years, orthopedics personnel training and other fields, and expressed heartfelt thanks to the efforts of several generations of Jishuitan people and the care and support of leaders at all levels. President Jiang Xiyuan introduced that the National Orthopaedic Medicine Center is positioned as a world-class orthopaedic center, which should focus on eight key tasks, learn from top international and domestic institutions, play a radiating and leading role, promote the expansion of high-quality medical resources and the balanced regional layout, and scientifically formulate long-term and short-term work goals. Combine the construction of the national medical center and the national regional medical center with the needs of the masses, constantly refine various measures, carry out work down-to-earth, and strive to hand in a qualified answer to the Party and the people.
